Two Women Injured in Early Morning Shooting on Saddle Lake Cree Nation, One Arrested
On Jan. 17, 2026, around 5:43 a.m., St. Paul RCMP received a report that two adult females were located on a rural road in Saddle Lake Cree Nation with non-lethal gunshot wounds and required emergency medical assistance. The victims were transported to the hospital and are expected to survive.
Moments later, St. Paul RCMP were dispatched to a report of a shooting at a residence on Highway 652, where a black truck was seen leaving the scene. No injuries were reported from within the residence.
Shortly thereafter, police investigation revealed the truck was stolen and found abandoned in a nearby ditch, with damage from what appeared to be bullet holes, and blood inside.
As police were setting up containment, a vehicle was seen leaving the area at a high rate of speed, which failed to stop for police. The vehicle ended up driving into a ditch, where the driver attempted to flee on foot but was ultimately arrested by police.
Robyn Jay Gladue (21), a resident of Saddle Lake Cree Nation, is facing several charges, including:
Possession of property obtained by crime;
Flight from a peace officer;
Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle; and
Failure to comply with release order.
Gladue was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded in custody. He is to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in St. Paul on Jan. 22, 2026.
