Lloydminster RCMP Investigate Late-Night Shooting and Attempted Vehicle Theft

A 29-year-old man is expected to recover after being shot during an apparent attempted vehicle theft in Lloydminster late Sunday night.

What Happened

Lloydminster RCMP say they were called just before midnight on Jan. 11, 2026, to a report of a shooting on 47 Avenue near 27 Street. When officers arrived, they found a male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Emergency responders took the victim to the hospital. Police say his injuries are not life-threatening.

Suspect Demanded Vehicle Keys

According to the RCMP, the victim told investigators he was outside when he was approached by a lone suspect who demanded the keys to his vehicle. A struggle followed, during which the victim was shot.

The suspect then fled the area in a dark-coloured SUV.

Suspect Description

Police are looking for a suspect described as:

  • Male

  • Medium complexion

  • Heavy set

  • Approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall

The Lloydminster RCMP General Investigations Section has assumed responsibility for the case.

RCMP Statement

“This is a troubling crime,” said Superintendent Jerry Nutbrown, Detachment Commander of the Lloydminster RCMP. “Know that all available resources are being utilized to locate this dangerous suspect.”
