Replica Firearm Incident at Lloydminster City Hall Ends With Arrest

Lloydminster RCMP say a fast police response prevented injuries after reports that a firearm had been pointed at people inside City Hall Thursday.

Incident Reported at City Hall

On January 8, 2026, Lloydminster RCMP received a report that an individual had pointed what appeared to be a firearm at people within City Hall. Officers arrived within minutes and intercepted the suspect as he was leaving the area.

The suspect was arrested without incident.

Replica Firearm Seized

RCMP say a search incidental to arrest revealed the weapon was a replica firearm. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident or the arrest.

Charges Laid

As a result of the investigation, Stephen Thunderblanket, 35, of Cut Knife, Saskatchewan, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

  • Using an imitation firearm in the commission of an offence

  • Carrying a concealed weapon

  • Uttering threats

  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

Thunderblanket was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody.

Court Appearance Scheduled

He is scheduled to appear in Lloydminster Provincial Court on January 13, 2026.
