Winterland Invitational Brings Youth Hockey, Community Spirit, and Economic Impact to Lakeland Region
The Ronald McDonald House Alberta Winterland Invitational will return to the Lakeland region from January 16–18, with games hosted in Bonnyville, Cold Lake, and Elk Point. The Lakeland region is proud to host the tournament this year during a new date, as it prepares to welcome the Alberta Winter Games over the February long weekend.
The tournament will feature U9, U11, and U13 youth hockey teams. More than 750 young athletes and their families are expected to attend, bringing a significant economic boost to the region. Local hotels, restaurants, and businesses will benefit as visitors experience the outstanding recreation facilities and welcoming communities of the Lakeland area.
In 2025, the Winterland Invitational celebrated a major milestone — having raised over one million dollars for Ronald McDonald House Alberta since the event’s inception in 2018.
“I’m proud to be part of the Ronald McDonald House Winterland Invitational,” said Oreen Skiba, Senior Manager of Provincial Events with Ronald McDonald House Alberta “This event shows the power of youth hockey not only as a sport, but to bring communities together and support families facing tough moments. It’s inspiring to see young athletes making an impact both on and off the ice.”
Fans are encouraged to attend games throughout the weekend and cheer on the teams. Supporters can also contribute to this important cause by purchasing 50/50 tickets online at: https://www.rafflebox.ca/raffle/rmhcab-winterland2026 The Winterland Invitational continues to showcase the best of youth hockey while making a meaningful difference for families across Alberta.
