Portage College announces St. Paul campus renovation plan for Fall 2026
As part of the continuing commitment to the community of St. Paul and to adult learning in our service area, Portage College is renovating our St. Paul student residence. The extensive renovations to the first floor will create a new, right-sized campus space in time for classes in Fall 2026.
This decision addresses shifting enrolment patterns, aging infrastructure needs, fiscal responsibility, and the historic connection between the community of St. Paul and Portage College.
“This renovation creates a sustainable path forward that allows us to continue meeting community needs,” said Dr. Stephen Price, President and CEO of Portage College. “The new space will be designed with maximum flexibility to meet programming needs.”
Renovation planning will finalize in January of 2026 with construction beginning after the tender and permit processes.
Following community consultations held over the last several months, future options for the adjacent campus building that was originally built in 1956, will be determined in consultation with the Government of Alberta.
Further details regarding renovation scope, timeline milestones, and input opportunities will be shared in January 2026.
