Bonnyville and Cold Lake Residents Charged After Stolen Vehicle Incident

Published On: December 19, 2025By

Two people from Bonnyville and Cold Lake have been arrested and charged following an RCMP investigation into a stolen vehicle incident that ended safely in Edmonton.

As a result of the investigation, RCMP have charged Wyatt Whitford, 29, of Bonnyville with possession of property obtained by crime, operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited, possession of break-in instruments, flight from police, and failure to comply with probation.

Frances Heigh, 31, of Cold Lake has been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of property obtained by crime, and possession of break-in instruments.

RCMP say no vehicle pursuit was initiated due to public safety concerns. Officers instead deployed tire deflation devices on a stolen white Chevrolet Silverado before it left the area at a high rate of speed.

With assistance from Police Dog Services and the Edmonton Police Service, the vehicle was followed into Edmonton, where it eventually stopped. Both the driver and passenger fled on foot.

Police say the driver was apprehended after a brief chase with the help of a police service dog. The passenger was arrested without further incident.

Whitford and Heigh were both brought before a Justice of the Peace. Heigh was released from custody and is scheduled to appear next at the Alberta Court of Justice in Fort Saskatchewan on Jan. 8. Whitford was remanded into custody and is set to appear in court on Dec. 11 in Fort Saskatchewan.

RCMP say the matter is now before the courts and no further updates are anticipated.
