Council has accepted in principle a design for a new facility that could replace the existing Jubilee Hall and former curling rink in McArthur Park. The proposed design calls for a building in the shape of an overturned canoe, a nod to our region’s Indigenous heritage, historical importance as a portaging route, and modern significance as a paddling destination in Alberta.
Construction of this facility has not yet been approved, nor is this design set in stone! The County will carry out a public engagement campaign first to hear from community members about the potential uses, functional requirements and other considerations for this new facility, which would help tell our community’s story in an exciting, larger-than-life format.
