RCMP Charge Man After Reported Sexual Assault at Lakeland College
A 20-year-old man from Unity, Saskatchewan has been charged after Vermilion RCMP launched an investigation into a reported sexual assault at Lakeland College.
“Gender-based violence is a serious and ongoing issue in Canada and it disproportionately affects women and girls,” said Cst Jocelyn Hey of the Vermilion RCMP. “Places like Vermilion are not immune. It’s important that, as a community, we work toward educating ourselves and supporting survivors of this type of violence.”
Charges Laid Following College Complaint
RCMP say they received a report of a sexual assault on Nov. 30, 2025. The investigation led to the arrest of Cameron Kelly, 20, on Dec. 4. Kelly is charged with sexual exploitation and sexual assault.
He was brought before a justice of the peace and has been released on conditions. Kelly is scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Vermilion on Jan. 5, 2025.
