Elk Point Santas in Desperate Need

The Community Lions of Elk Point run the Santa’s Anonymous program to help families who face food insecurity or worry about not having gifts for their kids. The goal of the program is to give some relief and spread some joy in the Elk Point area. 

In 2024, requests for support increased by 50% over the five-year average. Susan Frisby, coordinator of the program, says that there was next to nothing carried over from last year, so Santas are in “desperate need” of items.

Frisby says that cash donations are most useful, as they allow Santas to purchase toys that suit the kids’ ages. She also hopes to provide each individual with a toothbrush and each family with toothpaste and soap, and to add feminine pads, shampoo, and deodorant to hampers when possible. 

Many downtown Elk Point businesses are collecting items. As well, schools, churches, organizations, and sports teams are sponsoring activities to support Santa’s Anonymous. E-transfers can be sent to communitylionsep@gmail.com.
