Cold Lake RCMP Charge Man with Second-Degree Murder Following Fatal Shooting
A 46-year-old Cold Lake woman is dead and a man is facing a charge of second-degree murder after a shooting at a local trailer complex early Saturday morning.
On Nov. 1, 2025, at approximately 8:30 a.m., Cold Lake RCMP were dispatched to a complaint of shots fired. When officers arrived, they found the victim, identified as Nairy Desaulnier, deceased at the scene.
Witnesses provided descriptions of both the suspect and the firearm involved. Less than an hour later, at 9:15 a.m., RCMP received a report of a man with a gun attempting to enter another residence. Members responded quickly and arrested the suspect, who was later confirmed to be the shooter.
During the arrest, police seized a loaded firearm, additional ammunition, a taser, and brass knuckles. The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation.
Wesley Wanderingspirit, 39, of Cold Lake, has been charged with second-degree murder. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Lac La Biche on Nov. 3, 2025.
