The Town of Elk Point will see a familiar face leading council after the October 20, 2025 municipal election. Wanda Cochrane, a former councillor for the town, has been elected mayor, succeeding Parrish Tung.
Cochrane’s previous experience on council gives her a strong foundation in community planning, local governance, and regional collaboration. Her election marks a smooth transition of leadership and signals continued stability for the community.
According to the unofficial results, the three highest vote-getters have been elected to council. They are:
Tim Smereka – 361 votes
Dwayne Yarmkevich – 312 votes
Shaun Schaffrick – 243 votes
All three councillors previously served on council, meaning Elk Point voters have opted for experience and continuity in their representation.
With a blend of returning councillors and an experienced new mayor, the Town of Elk Point is positioned for another term of steady, community-minded governance. The new council will continue work on local infrastructure, economic development, and maintaining quality services for residents.
