Mattice Elected Mayor of Cold Lake in 2025 Municipal Election
Strong voter turnout brings mix of returning and new councillors
The City of Cold Lake has completed its ballot count from the October 20, 2025 municipal election, and the unofficial results are in.
Bob Mattice has been elected mayor with 2,148 votes, defeating challengers Sherri Buckle (784) and Ty Mikolas (72). Mattice, a long-time community leader and advocate for steady growth, will take over the city’s top seat following the end of Mayor Craig Copeland’s tenure.
New Council Announced
Six councillors have also been elected to serve alongside Mattice for the next four years. The successful candidates are:

Other candidates included Glenn Barnes (902), Hussein Elkadri (515), Sarah Fewchuk (1,186), Curtis Huizingh (339), and James Anthony McDonald (833).
Swearing-In and Next Steps
The new mayor and council will be sworn in on November 3, 2025, at 5 p.m. in Council Chambers, followed by an Organizational Meeting and several days of council orientation. The first Regular Council Meeting is scheduled for November 25 at 6 p.m.
Official results will be submitted to Alberta Municipal Affairs on Friday, October 24, and while no changes are expected, recount requests may be filed until October 22 at 4 p.m.
