Alberta RCMP Hand Out Nearly 2,000 Tickets Over Thanksgiving Weekend
The Alberta RCMP handed out 1,918 tickets during this year’s Thanksgiving long weekend as part of #OperationImpact2025, a national road safety campaign led by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police. The campaign’s theme, “Safety is in MY hands,” focused on personal responsibility behind the wheel.
“The Alberta RCMP would like to remind drivers that traffic safety is everyone’s responsibility,” said Sgt. Darrin Turnbull with Alberta RCMP Traffic. “We appreciate those who made smart choices and helped keep our roads safe this Thanksgiving.”
Throughout the weekend, RCMP officers patrolled provincial highways and issued:
▪️ 55 tickets for distracted driving
▪️ 13 tickets for seatbelt violations
▪️ 841 tickets for speeding
In addition, 106 drivers were taken off the road for impairment related to drugs or alcohol.
Police also responded to 45 injury collisions across the province—thankfully, none resulted in fatalities.
