Bonnyville Friendship Centre Awarded ANFCA AGM for 2026
The Bonnyville Friendship Centre will take the spotlight in 2026 as host of the Alberta Native Friendship Centres Association (ANFCA) Annual General Meeting, a major honour that reflects leadership, community impact, and alignment with the values of the Friendship Centre Movement.
A Recognition of Leadership and Impact
Being chosen to host the AGM goes far beyond logistics. It recognises the Centre’s commitment to reconciliation, cultural programming, youth empowerment, and the advancement of Indigenous rights — values that align with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
“This recognition is deeply meaningful to our community and affirms the work we do together to uplift and empower Indigenous peoples in both urban and rural settings,” the Friendship Centre shared.
Honouring the ANFCA
The Bonnyville Friendship Centre extended heartfelt thanks to the ANFCA for the honour. The Association plays a vital role in advocacy, capacity-building, and culturally grounded programming, ensuring Friendship Centres across Alberta have the resources and guidance to thrive.
Their leadership in promoting reconciliation, youth empowerment, and community wellness is not just vital to Bonnyville, but to the entire network of Friendship Centres across the province.
Looking Ahead to 2026
As preparations begin, the Bonnyville Friendship Centre is eager to welcome relatives, partners, and leaders from across Alberta in 2026.
“We are proud to be part of this network and look forward to building strong, resilient communities rooted in culture, connection, and care.”
