Town of Bonnyville Announces New Spooky Contest
Calling all goblins, ghouls, and Halloween lovers – Bonnyville wants to see your spooky side.
The Town of Bonnyville is excited to announce the 2025 Halloween Decorating Contest. Residents are invited to enter their decorated homes to see who’s is the Spookiest and has the best Kid-Friendly Haunt for a chance to win $500 in gift cards from local businesses.
“Bonnyville really comes alive with haunted houses during Halloween,” noted Events Committee Chair Byron Johnson. “This contest is a fun way for the Town to join in the spooky season with our residents.”
Registration begins on Sept. 16 and ends Oct. 28.
Those interested in entering have two categories to pick from: Spookiest and Kid-Friendly Haunt. The winners in each category will win $500 in gift cards from local businesses.
Those who enter the Spookiest category will be judged on how they use traditional Halloween items, such as pumpkins, ghosts, and witches, in order to make their space eerie, mysterious and haunting. The Kid-Friendly Haunt entrants will be judged on how fun and whimsical they make their space.
Judges, will be wearing their best costumes, will head out on Oct. 29 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Entrants will be asked to keep their displays on during that time. Winners will be announced on Halloween Day.

Eligibility
- Contest is open to homes located within the Town of Bonnyville limits.
- Only one entry per household.
- Entrants must be 18 years of age or older and live at the residence being entered.
Entry Details
- Entries accepted September 16 – October 28, 2025.
- Judging takes place on October 29 from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.
- Entrants must ensure decorations are lit and on display during judging.
Winners in each category will take home $500 worth of gift cards to local businesses.
