With broken hearts, the family of James John Sandfly “Jimmy John” of Big Island Lake Cree Nation, Saskatchewan is saddened to announce that the sun set for him on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 a the age of 63 years.

Leaving to mourn with cherished memories is his common law spouse of 24 years: Shannon John; children: Jorjah Keesaynew (his baby girl), Fiona Kytwayhat, Jimmy Jr. Kahpoonapit, Jolynn (Jamie) Kahpoonapit, Jean (David) Kahpoonapit, Jayden Kahpoonapit, Janessa Kahpoonapit, Jerri-Lynn Singer, Jade-Lynn (Dalton) Singer; adopted children: Gregory “GiGi” Mitsuing, Ty’lan John, Legacy John, Tianne Demerais; grandson: Jerayden Pahtayken; numerous grandchildren; brothers: Murray (Rose) Keesaynew, Wesley (Georgina) Sandfly; sisters: Lorraine Sandfly, Darlene Dufresne, Jean Singer, Bertha Singer; Jimmy John will also be remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family & friends.

Jimmy John is being reunited with his parents: Johnny Sandfly & Jeannine Blyan; sisters: Henrietta Singer, Vivian Stick, Theresa Singer; auntie: Christine Fly; uncle: Joe Blyan; nephew & nieces: Kyle Dufresne, Lorine Dufresne, Chey Dufresne, Tammy Dufresne.

Jimmy John will be Going Home to the Chief Napew Memorial School Gymnasium, Big Island Lake Cree Nation, Saskatchewan, for a 2 night wake on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, leaving Memento Funeral Chapel, Cold Lake, Alberta at 11:00 a.m.

Funeral Service, Friday, September 12, 2025 at 12:00 p.m., Chief Napew Memorial School Gymnasium, Big Island Lake Cree Nation, Saskatchewan with the Band Elders officiating.
