RCMP Seize Guns and Drugs Worth $48,000 in Saddle Lake Search

A major police operation in Saddle Lake has led to the seizure of firearms and nearly half a kilogram of drugs valued at roughly $48,000.

On August 24, 2025, Saddle Lake RCMP, assisted by the RCMP Emergency Response Team, Police Dog Services, and the Eastern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence in the community.

Inside, officers discovered two prohibited firearms, 209 grams of suspected methamphetamine, and 450 grams of suspected cocaine. Two men were taken into custody and now face multiple charges.

Jacob Anthony Cardinal (19), of Edmonton, has been charged with:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine

  • Unauthorized possession of prohibited/restricted weapons (x2)

  • Unsafe storage of firearms (x2)

  • Possession of a restricted/prohibited firearm with ammunition without licence/registration

  • Possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number

He was remanded into custody after a judicial interim release hearing.

Jaffar Sadiq Oswald Dickson (34), of Edmonton, faces the same charges, with an additional count of illegal possession or trafficking in government documents. He was also remanded into custody.

RCMP say the successful search highlights their ongoing efforts to keep dangerous drugs and weapons off Alberta streets.
