Nominations Open for Bonnyville’s Business Resiliency Awards
The Bonnyville & District Chamber of Commerce is calling on the community to recognize outstanding local businesses as nominations open for the Business Resiliency Awards. Nominations will be accepted until September 1, 2025.
Executive Director Megan Wakefield said the awards are one of the Chamber’s signature events, set to take place this October.
“This is our time to showcase our businesses and to really acknowledge all they’ve done in our community,” Wakefield explained. “It’s just that feel-good event, and it’s my favourite one that I look forward to.”
Recognizing Local Excellence
The Business Resiliency Awards celebrate businesses, non-profits, and groups of all sizes that have demonstrated strength and commitment to the community. Categories include customer service, community involvement, and new business recognition, among others.
Wakefield emphasized that community nominations are an important first step.
“We are accepting nominations until the end of this long weekend,” she said. “It’s something really important for the community to get involved with and to nominate their favourite local business.”
Nominations can be submitted through the Chamber’s website: bonnyvillechamber.com.
Judging Process
Once nominations close, businesses will be contacted to accept their nomination and complete an application package. A judging panel—made up of past award winners, Chamber board members, and community representatives—will then review the submissions.
“Businesses need time to fill out their package, judges need time to review, and then we get the awards ready,” Wakefield explained. “It’s definitely a process that takes some time.”
More Than Just Awards
For many local businesses, the recognition provides encouragement to keep moving forward.
“When you’re starting out, there are so many obstacles,” Wakefield said. “To receive an award like that, you realize what you’re doing is making an impact.”
She added that the awards are also a way for customers to show their appreciation.
“Maybe you go into a business regularly and notice they have great customer service, or maybe you just want to thank them for being in our community,” she said. “This is a great way to do that.”
The Business Resiliency Awards Gala will be held in October. Community members are encouraged to submit nominations by September 1 to ensure their favourite businesses are recognized.
