Fire Advisory Issued for Bonnyville Region
A fire advisory has been issued for the M.D. of Bonnyville, Bonnyville Beach, Pelican Narrows, and Glendon as warm weather increases the wildfire risk.
Warm, dry conditions have prompted officials to issue a fire advisory for the Municipal District of Bonnyville, the Summer Villages of Bonnyville Beach and Pelican Narrows, and the Village of Glendon. With temperatures staying high, the risk of wildfires starting and spreading quickly remains elevated.
What’s Allowed
▪️ Existing fire permits remain valid, but permit holders must follow all conditions carefully.
▪️ New fire permits will only be issued on a case-by-case basis for essential burning.
▪️ Safe campfires are still permitted.
What’s Prohibited
▪️ Any burning without a valid permit, except campfires, is prohibited.
▪️ Fireworks and exploding targets are not allowed.
Extra Precautions
Officials remind landowners who conducted burns earlier this summer to revisit those areas to ensure the fire is completely extinguished and cold to the touch. As grasses continue to dry through the fall, even a smouldering pile could easily spark a wildfire.
