Cold Lake Cruisers Roll into 25 Years with Chrome, Camaraderie, and Community

Last Updated: August 23, 2025By

If you’ve ever wondered what 25 years of horsepower, elbow grease, and small-town heart looks like—picture the Cold Lake Energy Centre parking lot last Saturday. Cars lined up like a candy store for gearheads, the smell of barbecue in the air, and three generations of locals swapping stories about their favourite rides.

And yes… not a drop of rain. (A miracle, considering Alberta’s weather usually books its own schedule.)

Family Legacy on Wheels

The Cruisers’ chair, Travis, was quick to point out just how deep the club runs in his own family.
“My father’s one of the founding members of this club,” he said. “I’ve always been in and around, but I’d say about 15 years I’ve been involved.”

On a day where over 210 vehicles rolled up, Travis said it best: “Today is definitely a shining moment.”

Favourite car? Travis admitted a soft spot for the Ferrari Testarossa, while still tipping his hat to the local Shelby GTs on display. (Good news, Travis—there were plenty of both.)

Dollars, Sense, and Dodge Muscle

Treasurer Trevor has only been around a couple years, but you’d never know it by the way he talks about the crew.
“For me, it’s the camaraderie. It helps people get out into the community and brings people together.”

His dream car? A Challenger. “I’m a Dodge guy,” he said proudly. (Meanwhile, I had to confess my Ford bias. We agreed to disagree.)

Chevy Loyalty Runs Deep

Vice-President Grant joined the Cruisers back in 2009, and like the others, he swears the best part isn’t the chrome—it’s the community.
“Supporting local charities, putting on events, and just being engaged in Cold Lake… that’s the highlight.”

On the Chevy side of the eternal car debate, Grant wouldn’t commit to one favourite ride but admitted Corvettes always catch his eye.

Between the three of them, the club has all the big names covered—Chevy, Ford, and Dodge. (If you were holding out for Pontiac, sorry… but hey, there’s always next year.)

More Than Just Cars

Saturday wasn’t just about shiny paint jobs and horsepower stats. There was voting on every car, truck, and motorcycle, a live auction with proceeds heading to local charities, and a barbecue run by Northern Lights Realty to raise funds for Stepping Stones.

The awards capped things off at 4:00 p.m., but really, the win was seeing families, friends, and strangers come together over a shared love of cars.

As the guys put it: being a Cruiser isn’t just about owning a “nice vehicle.” It’s about camaraderie, helping each other out, and being part of something bigger than yourself.

Our Community Sponsors Keep the Wheels Turning

Big thanks to the local sponsors who helped Lakeland Connect get out to the milestone event: Avenir Energy Bonnyville, The Kanata Bonnyville Hotel, Coauette & Sons Implements, and Xtreme Oilfield.

Because if there’s one thing Cold Lake knows, it’s that horsepower alone doesn’t keep you running—community does.
