Chamber Gears Up for Rodeo Week with Kickoff Party

Last Updated: August 23, 2025By

The St. Paul District Chamber of Commerce is saddling up for one of the community’s biggest weeks of the year. With rodeo week right around the corner, Chamber Executive Director Yvonne Weinmeier sat down with Lakeland Connect to share what’s planned — and why this kickoff event is more than just a night of fun.

Rodeo Kickoff Party – August 27

Mark your calendars: Wednesday, August 27, the St. Paul Rec Centre will come alive for the Rodeo Kickoff Party. Cocktails start at 5:30 p.m., followed by a hearty supper catered by PS Catering. “You know it’s going to be fabulous food,” said Weinmeier with a smile.

The evening doesn’t stop there. Guests will enjoy a silent auction in support of KidSport St. Paul — a program that helps ensure every child can access sports, regardless of financial barriers. Donations for the auction can be dropped off at the Chamber office or with Daryl Poer at Century 21.

Laughs with Lisa Baker

After supper and bidding, the spotlight turns to Newfoundland-born comedian Lisa Baker. Known across Canada for her quick wit and down-to-earth humour, Baker is set to deliver a show that will have the crowd “leaving with sore cheeks and a sore tummy from laughing,” promised Weinmeier.

For those who can’t make the dinner but don’t want to miss the show, the Chamber has released comedy-only tickets.

Networking, Community, and Rodeo Spirit

Beyond food and entertainment, the Chamber emphasizes the heart of the evening: connection. “The main focus is networking — with other businesses, with the community — and getting ready for that busy rodeo week,” said Weinmeier. Rodeo remains one of St. Paul’s most significant community events, drawing visitors from far and wide.

The Kickoff Party gives locals a chance to celebrate together before the rush of rodeo begins.

Tickets and Sponsorships

Tickets are available now through the St. Paul Chamber of Commerce website, with options for individual tickets, tables of eight, and special member pricing. Comedy-only tickets are also available. Businesses looking for extra visibility can take advantage of sponsorship opportunities tied to the event.

“We really want to get tickets out in advance so we can confirm catering,” noted Weinmeier, encouraging residents to book early.

Looking Ahead

While fall promises plenty of Chamber programming, the spotlight for now is squarely on rodeo week. “It’s one of the biggest events in St. Paul, and this is a great way to kick things off,” said Weinmeier.

As summer winds down, the Chamber is inviting everyone to come out, connect, and laugh together — because in St. Paul, rodeo week isn’t just an event, it’s a tradition.
