Mayor Elisa Brosseau running for re-election in 2025

Mayor Elisa Brosseau is vying for the mayoral position again in the 2025 election.
The Town of Bonnyville’s current leader explained the reasoning on The Morning After on Wednesday, and managing the job with a husband and three kids who are actively engaged in extra-curricular activities.
She said it came after discussions with her family, her council, and some soul searching as well.
“On my end, I’ve been doing this for eight years, Mayor, four years, Council, four years. So eight years I’ve been doing this job with the same schedule. Am I ready for another four years? Because that is what the commitment is,” Brosseau told Lakeland Connect.
“After a lot of thought, we’ve got a new CAO that came in and transitioned, and we’ve got a lot of things on the go. I want to see a lot of those things go through…that was the decision making process and that’s what got me to the point of, let’s get the papers in and let’s do this.”
Brosseau is the lone mayoral candidate at this time for the Town.
Currently, incumbent councillors David Sharun, Kayla Blanchette, and Brian McEvoy have submitted their nomination papers to run for council again.
Caitlyn Bush and Tina Michaud have also submitted nominations for councillor positions.
Nominations close at noon on September 22, with the election on October 20.
Through the Town’s website, there are a variety of materials that prospective councillors of mayoral candidates should be aware of.
