Jets Flatten Bucks, Punch Ticket to AFL Semi-Final
Cold Lake, I hope you didn’t blink — because if you did, you might’ve missed half the touchdowns.
The Cold Lake Fighter Jets came out at Varughese Memorial Field on Saturday like a freight train that forgot how to slow down, rolling over the Red Deer Bucks 64–0 in their AFL quarterfinal matchup.
At halftime, it was already 50–0. That’s not a typo. Fifty. To. Nothing. The poor Bucks showed up with just 17 guys — which is basically enough for a football team, a water boy, and maybe a guy running the deep fryer back home. But credit to them, they played hard all night, even suiting up their president to take some snaps.
Quincey Hill Lights It Up
Jets defensive back Quincey Hill had himself a night — two touchdowns, including a punt return he says was “a long time coming.” In his words, “I switched up the cardio and just bobbed and weaved, baby.” He made it look easy, but the scoreboard made it look downright unfair.
Coach T at QB
With some gaps at quarterback this season, Coach Teague Sherman decided to throw on the pads himself. And you know what? The man can sling it.
“For us, this was about being more efficient,” Sherman said. “We switched things up over the break, got guys in different positions, and I wanted to take charge and make sure everyone was getting touches. The timing and reads were there, and it felt good to see it come together.”
The O-line also got a nod from their coach/QB: “I think I got touched once all game. That’s it. They were phenomenal.”
And yes, he even critiqued himself: “There’s some throws I don’t like, and we messed up a few plays just because of timing. But overall, it wasn’t bad. Not bad at all.”
Eyes on Grande Prairie
Next stop: Grande Prairie for the semi-final. The Jets know the Predators like to throw it deep.
“They throw the ball 17 deep,” Sherman said with a grin. “If we can get the ball out quicker and keep it in the hands of our playmakers, we’ll be in good shape.”

Cold Lake, enjoy this one. Last home game of the season is in the books — and the next time the boys hit Varughese Memorial Field, it’ll be 2026. Until then, pack your road snacks and keep the faith. These Jets aren’t done yet.
