In Loving Memory: Alma Grosseth

Alma Grosseth (nee Roman) born to Germanic immigrants, homesteaded in the Elk Point area, and was born into a family of 7 children. As a child, life was always interesting – working the land was a priority, but there was time for games, sleighrides and neighbourhood gatherings for dances and card games.

Mom considered her career options, and was swept off her feet by Jentoft Grosseth, and he became the apple of her eye. They married in 1949 and had 5 children – Myles, Brian, Donna, Wendy and Lennard.

Family life was busy and Dad was always in full support, as Mom pursued her career aspirations.  A woman before her time, Alma followed her dream of becoming a Registered Nurse, graduating in 1973, and nursing in Red Deer, Calgary, and Glendon. Such an achievement for a woman/mother who had to make sacrifices. Mom would say, “We only have one life to live, so live it well.”

A Life Well Lived.
