Bonnyville RCMP report: Impaired driving hauling boat, cabbie kicked in face, distraught toddler in ditch

Impaired driving hauling boat

Charges were laid against a Wabamun man who got into a collision while hauling a boat.

The incident happened around 9:00PM on Sunday, Aug. 3 just east of Bonnyville.

RCMP arrived on scene and found the vehicle with boat and trailer attached had veered off the road and crashed into some trees. 

The driver was identified as Francis Corrick of Wabamun, Alberta. 

Police say he was still seated in the truck and woke up when RCMP knocked on his window. 

Several alcohol bottles were noted in the cab of the truck, according to the RCMP. 

Their investigation determined alochol played a factor. Corrick was issued Provincial Sanctions for Impaired Driving and Refuse to Comply with an Alcohol Demand. He is additionally charged for Driving while Unauthorized and Transporting Liquor Within Easy Access in a Vehicle.

Resources from Bonnyville EMS and Fire Authority as well as the Bonnyville hospital were utilized to assist him. 

Cabbie kicked in face

A local taxi driver was kicked in the face, according to police, leading to the arrest of Jenna Montana.

On Aug. 5 at 7:45PM, Bonnyville RCMP received a call from a taxi driver who had just been kicked in the face by a passenger. 

RCMP attended the scene on Gurneyville Road and arrested Jenna Montana of Bonnyville who was also found to be wanted on outstanding warrants. 

Montana was charged with Assault. She was brought before a Justice who remanded her into custody. 

Her next court appearance is Aug. 14

Distraught toddler found on side of the road

Bonnyville RCMP have laid charges in an alarming situation that involved a distraught toddler.

Police say on Wednesday, Aug. 6 at 4:30PM they received a report of a woman laying in the ditch near the intersection of 54th Avenue. She was alongside a distraught toddler and an overturned stroller, police say.

When the RCMP arrived, the female got up and attempted to run away. 

The 21 year old female, who was not named in the report, from La Loche, Saskatchewan, was apprehended and charged with Abandoning & Endangering a Child, Failing to Comply with a Probation Order and Resisting arrest. 

She was brought before a Justice who released her from custody.  Her first appearance is Aug. 19.
