The Clean Energy Improvement Program (CEIP) is still accepting applications from residential property owners.

CEIP is a financing program through the City of Cold Lake that can help homeowners pay for energy efficient upgrades and renewable energy installations to their home by qualified contractors. The financial assistance comes in the form of a low-interest loan, with borrowing terms of up to 20 years.

“There are seven qualified contractors in Cold Lake,” said Mayor Craig Copeland. “It’s a great way to support our local businesses, by encouraging people to hire a qualified contractor from our area for their energy efficient upgrades.”

Although there are several local qualified contractors, some applicants struggled to find a qualified contractor for specialized upgrades and opted out of the program.

Since its start in 2022, CEIP has received several applications, of which

  • 1 project is complete and funding disbursed
  • 2 projects are currently in progress
  • 4 new applications are currently under review

There is no cost to become a CEIP Qualified Contractor, and those interested can find more information on the process at https://ceip.abmunis.ca/contractor/become-ceip-qualified-contractor. For more information on CEIP in Cold Lake, visit www.coldlake.com/ceip
