ED disruptions today in St. Paul, moving forward in Two Hills

St. Paul Healthcare Centre emergency department will be without on-site physician coverage on Friday:

  • 4:00PM on Friday to 7:00AM on Saturday

As well as from:

  • 7:00AM to 2:00PM on Tuesday, Aug. 5.

This is a temporary measure due to a lack of available clinical personnel, AHS says.

Nursing staff will remain on-site in the emergency department, providing triage, assessments, and referrals for patients to alternate emergency departments in surrounding communities. EMS will remain available in the community.

Patients are asked to continue calling 911 if they have a medical emergency. For non-emergency health-related questions, please call Health Link at 811.

Two Hills

In Two Hills, the hours of operation for the emergency department (ED) at the Two Hills Health Centre will be temporarily reduced during the evening Monday to Thursday.

Effective Aug. 4, the ED will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Thursday, and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday. The ED will continue to be closed on weekends at this time.

Active recruitment efforts for additional physicians to support a return to expanded ED hours are ongoing. Additionally, Alberta Health Services (AHS) continues to explore all options for locum coverage to help minimize the reduction in ED hours for the community.

The community will be notified if locum coverage is secured and expanded ED hours restored.
