Ribfest begins! Celebrate the 10th anniversary of Lakeland Connect this weekend

Seven Lakes Oilfield Services has stepped up to be the presenting sponsor for a weekend full of good food and quality entertainment, while local non-profits will also reap the benefits.

Can you believe that we here at Lakeland Connect just celebrated 10 years of being in business? Neither can we.

It’s a testament to you: the readers, the viewers, and the sponsors. You look to stay engaged in your community, because that’s what we eat, sleep, and breathe.

Speaking of eating, come celebrate this milestone from Friday to Sunday at Ribfest in Cold Lake.

The Western Canadian Ribfest Tour is rolling through our backyard once again, and we’ve planned a lineup of sweet entertainment to pair alongside these rustic eats.

Setting up at the Cold Lake Energy Centre for three days, it’s free admission to get into the area, and each truck has their own menus and prices.

This year’s ribs are coming from Billy’s BBQ, Blazin’ BBQ, Silver Bullet, and Buckeye BBQ, but there’s other eats to enjoy as well.

Stick around for free entertainment to enjoy each night.

On Friday, local bands Reclaim the Sun take the stage at 7:00PM. Then Tiago James will perform at 8:30PM.

Saturday will see a mix of music and comedy.

After She Cried Cyanide (with former Connector Chris Lapointe on drums) at 7:00PM, former morning show host for The Goat, Ryder, is hosting a comedy show.

It’ll include Lakeland Connect’s own Michael Menzies, and Edmonton acts Graham MacDonald and Noah Brodeur. The comedy begins at 8:30PM.

Sunday will see the rib judging at 2:00PM while DJ Joel Cross spins the tunes.

Some of the event proceeds will go to the Cold Lake Food Bank, John Howard Society, Lakeland Humane Society, and Cold Lake Fighter Jets.

• The Pourhouse is the designated post-event party spot for those looking to keep the night going after Ribfest shuts down
