With grateful hearts for a beautiful life lived, the family of Sharon Esther Hamel (née Lawton) of Cold Lake, Alberta announces that she passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side, on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at the age of 85 years.

Leaving to mourn with cherished memories are her children; Greg (Chiara) Hamel of Cold Lake, AB, Reg (Suzy) Hamel of Cold Lake, AB, Jacqueline (Dale) Harlton of St. Albert, Robert Hamel (Kristy Janzen) of Cold Lake, AB; sixteen grandchildren: Emily (Pierre) Côté, Jacob (Alanna) Hamel, Hannah (Steve) Jamieson, Monica (Russell) Plouffe, Gabriel (Sydney) Hamel, Bridget (Austin) Verner, Sophia Hamel (Marc Pilon), Sara (Darcy) Le Drew, Jolene Hamel (Coleman Brodbin), Lora Hamel (Richard Shymchuk), Katie (Mike) Cheung, Jesse Harlton (Karlie Christie), Scott (Rebekah) Harlton, Danielle (Jake) Quigley, Andrew (Samantha) Hamel, Matthew Hamel (Kaileb Rider); eighteen great grandchildren; brothers: Ken Lawton, Keith Lawton; sister: Marlene France; as well as many family members & friends.

Sharon was predeceased by her husband of 59 years: Gaston “Gus” Hamel; parents: Myrlin & Leona Lawton; in-laws: Tom France, Angie Lawton; and many other in-laws.

Funeral Mass, Tuesday, July 22, 2025  at 10:45 a.m. at St. Dominic Roman Catholic Church, Cold Lake, AB with Father Limneo Zamora as Celebrant. Music will be played starting at 10:30 a.m. Pallbearers: Danielle Quigley, Katie Cheung, Lora Hamel, Jolene Hamel, Sara LeDrew, Sophia Hamel, Bridget Verner, Monica Plouffe, Hannah Jamieson, Emily Côté. Cremation to follow. Sharon will be laid to rest with Gus at St. Dominic Roman Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
