Honoured tradition of RCMP Musical Ride Tour arriving this week St. Paul & Cold Lake
It’s not every day, nor every year–or even decade–that the RCMP Musical Ride tour comes to your community.
But the Lakeland area is getting the rare opportunity with two stops on the tour this week, first in St. Paul, and then in Cold Lake.
This tradition of nearing 150 years, only comes to each province every four years, and there’s no guarantee your community will be on the list.
This year, for example, there are 20 Alberta communities on the tour.
While many of the officers will be on horseback, expect to see intricate formations choreographed to music, showcasing RCMP equipment and techniques.
St. Paul
The St. Paul Ag Society is hosting the event at the Clancy Richard Arena, with two separate showtimes of 2:30PM & 6:30PM on Wednesday.
Before the shows, the local St. Paul RCMP detachment will do demonstrations of their own.
There will be the opportunity for photos and meet and greets with the participants.
Families should know this is a ticketed event. The link for tickets is here. Children under 12 years old get in for free. The doors open an hour before each show.
Cold Lake
The Cold Lake Ag Society has taken the lead in hosting this experience at Exhibition Park on Thursday.
The City of Cold Lake’s sponsorship will allow the first 1000 kids aged 16 and under to get in for free.
Along with static displays, the 4 Wing Cold Lake band will be playing live music.
Tickets are available here online.
