On July 12, 2025, Mrs. Annie Matoosk “wapskoso kaskitew muskoiskwew” (White Black Bear Woman) of Saddle Lake, Alberta passed away at the age of 86 years. She is survived by her daughters, Julia Cryer, Florence Cryer, Rita Alice Pipe, Betsy (William) Dion, Marilyn Brighteyes, Angelic McGilvery & all of her adopted sons & daughters; daughter-in-law, Shirley Rabbit; son-in-law, Lester Half; numerous grandchildren, great-chapans & one on the way; great-great-chapans; all of her Sunday family, Moosewah family, Cryer family & handgame family & friends. Annie was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Paul Moosewah; daughter, Vera Half; son, David Wayne Cryer; granddaughter, baby Kayla Nicole Half; great-grandbabies, Allisa Mary Bull Half & Ryder Reggie Steinhauer Half; parents, David Max Matoosk & Stella Cryer; sisters, Marie Pipe, Olivene Brighteyes, Mary Dorothy Cryer & Suzette Cryer; brother, Joseph Mark Cryer. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all the doctors & nurses at the Two Hills & Red Deer Hospitals for all that they did for their mother. A Wake will be held on Monday (leaving Grace Gardens at 12:00 p.m.) & Tuesday, July 21 & 22 at Ayiwakes Cultural Centre, Saddle Lake. A Traditional Funeral Service will  be held on Wednesday, July 23 at 11:00 a.m at Ayiwakes Cultural Centre, Saddle Lake. An Elder along with Pastor Linda Burns will be leading the service with interment in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Cemetery, Saddle Lake.
