The jersey barriers are down, the RV dump station is gone, and heavy equipment is in as the Town’s goal of creating a community gathering space at Slawuta Pond has begun.

Underground work is underway as the Town’s long-term vision of the Lakeshore Drive & Jessie Lake masterplan begins with this influx of cash and development.

“We want to clean it up and make it nice so people can start going back down there again, eating their lunch, parking,” said Mayor Elisa Brosseau.

“We have so much greenspace along Jessie Lake, so how can enhance those areas? We already see people coming out and using it, but what more can we add to it?”

What’s included in the amenities are:

• Installation of playground,
• Upgraded parking lot,
• Paved walking trail and decorative light extension to include the backside of the Slawuta Pond,
• Multiple touch points on to Slawuta Pond to enhance the fishing experience,
• Year-round bathroom,
• New seating area with park benches and flowers,
• Increase level of enjoyment that is accessible for everyone.
