In Loving Memory: Zoe Bleau – Northern Lights Funeral Chapel
BLEAU, Zoe Cecilia
nee Burns
August 26, 1931 – May 31, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our mom, Zoe on May 31, 2025 at the age of 93, at the Bonnyville Long Term Care Home.
The funeral mass will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025 at 11:00 am beginning with a eulogy at 10:45 am. at St Louis Roman Catholic Church in Bonnyville. Cremation to follow.
Zoe was born in Vancouver on August 26, 1931, the youngest of 4 children. She graduated from St. Anne’s Academy. As a child, she loved horseback riding. She was deeply devoted to her faith, and carried that with her for her whole life. She met and married Bob Bleau, in 1954 in Reno, NV. Together they raised 8 children, and shared their love and their home with 21 foster children.
Dad was in the military, and their lives took them to many postings, eventually settling in Bonnyville in 1974. Over the 53 years that Mom made Bonnyville home, she immersed herself in the community by volunteering in a multitude of ways; these included Bonnyville 4-H Club, Bonnyville Gymkhana Club, Bonnyville Rodeo Association, Bonnyville Ambulance Services, Bonnyville Jr. A Pontiacs Hockey, with Criminal Justice as a probation officer, and with the Alberta Summer, Winter and Seniors Games. She was Bonnyville’s Volunteer of the Year in 1984. Zoe had a passion for crafting: ceramics, porcelain draping, painting, knitting, sewing, leatherwork and poetry. She won the Grand Aggregate of the Fall Fair, and was very proud of that award.
Zoe has gone to the loving arms of her husband, Bob Bleau (1981), son Mike Bleau (2021), granddaughter Jenny Martens (1999) and great granddaughter Jamianna Morton (2019). She leaves to cherish her memory her children; Rosemarie Smith (John), Sally Martens (Fred), Eileen Hallett (Cy), Margo Morton, Nora Tinant (Adrien), Bobby Bleau, foster son Shawn Minoose, and daughter-in-law Marilene Bleau, 22 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Bonnyville Long Term Care Home–5001 Lakeshore Drive, Bonnyville, AB T9N 0G8 or your charity of choice.
