April 22, 1968 – May 29, 2025

 

With deepest sorrow and broken hearts the family announces the passing of Dwayne Thiessen.

After a short battle with cancer, he fell asleep in death on May 29th, 2025 at the age of 57

He will lovingly be remembered and deeply missed by his wife of 26 years Holly Thiessen, and their two sons, Kelly Sayers (Amanda), and Jessie Thiessen, daughter Santina Thiessen, as well as granddaughter Skylar Sayers.

He will be missed by numerous family members as well as countless friends and work colleagues whose lives he touched.

Dwayne was born on April 22, 1968 in Dawson Creek B.C, and settled in Big Bay Alberta. He worked in the oil and gas industry throughout his lifetime, from operating heavy equipment to pipeline inspection.  Dwayne had a love for horses, nature, and adventure.

His warmth, humor and generosity, touched everyone he met, and his vibrant style of story-telling will be sorely missed.

He was pre-deceased by his father Toby Desjarlais, his grandmother, Cecile Desjarlais, and his sister Cecile Boucher.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the wonderful staff at the Bonnyville Health Care Centre who provided comfort and care during his final moments.

 

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Lac La Biche, Alberta on June 16, 2025, at 1:00 pm,  followed by a fellowship and light lunch.
