Major police operation in Lloyd sees a local man charged

A Kehewin man was part of a large arrest of several individuals after RCMP in Lloydminster shut down roads for a thorough police situation earlier this week in the Border City.

On Wednesday, a significant police presence and road closures in the east side of Lloyd in the area of 45 Avenue, saw the assistance of the Alberta RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT), also known as “K” Division ERT, and RCMP Police Dog Services (PDS).

The deployment of specialized police resources was necessary to ensure public and officer safety during the execution of high-risk warrants related to the investigation.

Several individuals were taken into custody without incident. As a result, the following people were arrested and charged:

  • Jesse Dillon (33), a resident of Edmonton, was charged with Obstruct police officer and failure to comply with release order.
  • Ryan Peace (51), a resident of Martensville, SK, was charged with flight from police officer.
  • Kyle Soosay (35), a resident of Kehewin First Nation, was charged with failure to comply with release order.

A fourth individual was released from police custody and a fifth person was arrested for Public mischief and Obstruction of peace officer but charges have yet to be laid.

Dillon, Peace and Soosay were brought before a justice of the peace.

Dillon was remanded into custody while Peace and Soosay were released on conditions. They are all to appear before the Saskatchewan Provincial Court, with Soosay appearing June 10, Dillon appearing June 19 and Peace appearing August 10.

Lloydminster RCMP Detachment and General Investigation Section, with support from Alberta RCMP ERT and PDS, as well as other specialized units, continue to investigate. RCMP would like to thank the public for their patience and cooperation during the temporary road closures and police operations.
