Bonnyville RCMP respond to fatal rollover of oil tanker
A 66-year-old has passed away following a fatal rollover on Friday afternoon outside of Bonnyville.
At 2:41PM, Bonnyville RCMP received a report of a single-vehicle oil tanker rollover on Range Road 485, RCMP said on Saturday afternoon.
Upon arrival, the oil tanker was located on its roof in a small creek.
Bonnyville Fire Department, EMS, and RCMP attended the scene, but the 66-year-old from the M.D. of Bonnyville was found deceased.
The road was closed for a few hours as an oil spill resulted from the accident.
A Dangerous Goods Inspector from the province attended the scene, along with Alberta Energy representatives, who are overseeing the oil cleanup and vehicle recovery.
RCMP sends condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
