Fire Ban downgraded before May Long weekend: BRFA

After an early start to the wildfire season, but the downpour of most recent rain, the Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority lifted the Fire Ban on Thursday afternoon.

However, there is still a Fire Restriction in place.

Under this restriction:

  • All fire permit requests will be evaluated on case-by-case basis.
  • Winter burning locations should be checked for extinguishment.
  • Caution should be exercised during windy conditions.

Allowed:

  • Safe wood campfires within fire rings in campgrounds and on public and privately  owned land are allowed.
  • Backyard fire pits, charcoal briquette barbeques on private land.
  • Propane/natural gas-powered appliances.
  • Cooking, warming and lighting devices – all devices must be CSA approved and  used as per manufacturer’s standards.

Never leave a campfire unattended. Soak it, stir it and soak it again until cool to the touch to ensure it is extinguished. If you see a wildfire, report it immediately by calling 310-FIRE.
