Drop-in open house Monday for sports tourism strategy in Bonnyville

Bonnyville residents are invited to take a look at the sports tourism plans that the Town has made a focus as of late.

A drop-in open house is slated for Monday, April 7 from 5:00-8:00PM at the Bonnyville & District Centennial Centre.

The event will include consultants RC Strategies, as well as council and Town staff, who have worked together to complete their Sports Tourism Strategy.

The main themes probed during this review was exploring the best ways to use and leverage the sports facilities and rec spaces, how to gain more visibility and traffic through sports as a way to boost local economy, and also create sporting opportunities for athletes and residents to enjoy.

Panels will be set up outlining the key elements of the draft strategy. But feedback is what the Town is looking for.

Forms will be available for residents, as well as the opportunity to ask questions. If you can’t stop by in-person, the findings of the strategy will be available online on the Town’s website.

Residents were originally surveyed in October 2024 as part of the initial feedback constructed for the strategy.
