Firearms call leads to two search warrants, four arrests, and three stolen firearms: Saddle Lake RCMP

Saddle Lake RCMP arrested and charged four people after reports of a man firing a gun and walking around with a weapon.

The original report came on Saturday, March 22 and police responded and arrested one male holding a firearm. Through investigation, this firearm was determined to be stolen. 

As the investigation went on, police were able to draft a search warrant for a residence in Saddle Lake. 

RCMP say that during the execution of the search warrant, two males were arrested, and a firearm was recovered. Police learned that this firearm was also stolen.

Following the execution of that search warrant, RCMP had enough information to draft a second search warrant for another residence in Saddle Lake.

This led to another male was arrested and a third stolen firearm was recovered. 

Two of the three recovered firearms had been modified, making them prohibited weapons. 

Rodney Riel Gladue, 43, a resident of Saddle Lake has been charged with:

  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Possession of a firearm when knowing possession unauthorized
  • Weapons possession contrary to order (x2)
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Possession of property obtained by crimes less than $5000

Rodney Gladue was held for a judicial hearing and was remanded into custody. He is set to appear in the St. Paul Court of Justice on Mar. 27, 2025.

Caleb Peter Shirt, 39, a resident of Saddle Lake has been charged with:

  • Possession of a firearm when knowing possession unauthorized (x2)
  • Weapons possession contrary to order (x3)
  • Unsafe storage of firearms

Shirt was held for a judicial hearing and was remanded into custody. He is set to appear in the St. Paul Court of Justice today, Mar. 27, 2025. 

Lyle Alexander Gladue, 45, and Garrett John Gladue, 28, both residents of Saddle Lake have been jointly charged with:

  • Possession of a firearm when knowing possession is unauthorized
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a firearm with tampered serial number
  • Possession of property obtained by crime less than or equal $5000
  • Weapons possession for trafficking
  • Fail to comply with release order condition

Both Lyle and Garrett Gladue were held for judicial hearings. Garrett Gladue was remanded into custody and is set to appear in the St. Paul Court of Justice today on Mar. 27, 2025. 

Lyle Gladue was released on conditions and is set to appear in the St. Paul Court of Justice on Apr. 17, 2025.
