Newly recruited specialist now practising in Cold Lake

 A newly recruited physician specialist is practising at the local healthcare centre and in community, improving access to care for local and area residents.

Dr. Andrea Appau is a diagnostic radiologist physician specialist, with a sub-speciality in abdominal imaging and nonvascular intervention. She is practising at the Cold Lake Healthcare Centre and CGA Medical Imaging.

“Dr. Appau is a welcomed addition to the local healthcare team,” says Scott Cyr, MLA for Bonnyville-Cold Lake-St. Paul. “We are grateful for her expertise in radiology to care for local  residents.”

Dr. Appau received her medical training and completed her residency in Ghana, her home country. She is married with two children. As a family, they enjoy soccer, crafts, movies, board games and reading. When she’s not working, Dr. Appau enjoys dancing, volunteering and community service.

“The insights provided by radiologists help guide the decisions of other healthcare providers,” says Dr. Jane Ojedokun, Zone Medical Director in the North Zone of Alberta Health Services (AHS). “Dr. Appau is a vital part of our healthcare team, providing insights that help detect, diagnose and manage health conditions effectively and safely. It is great news to welcome her to Cold Lake.”
