EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY: TOWN OF BONNYVILLE Casual Labourer – Seasonal

The Town of Bonnyville is looking for individuals 18+ years to perform various manual labour labour duties  in support of the Town programs, services, and events. This seasonal position is from beginning of May  until the end of August. Start and end dates are based on environmental factors and budgetary constraints.  Please indicate if you are a student and are planning to return to school in the fall as this may influence  grant funding for the position.  

Hours: 

Monday – Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm * 

Qualifications: 

  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License in good standing. (GDL may be considered) 
  • 18 years of age or older. (due to the maturity required in the position) 
  • High school Diploma or Equivalent 
  • Experience in general labor duties (considered an asset). 
  • Physically capable of performing manual labor, including standing and lifting up to 50 lbs. (Any  physical limitations must be disclosed prior to employment). 
  • Experience operating pickup trucks and towing trailers (considered an asset). Strong communication skills, including reading and writing, with the ability to follow verbal and  written instructions. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct manual labor duties related to water, sewer, garbage collection, snow removal, and road  transport. 
  • Perform manual duties such as moving, placing, and maintaining barricades, picnic tables, and  garbage collection (including emptying). 
  • Conduct green space maintenance, including tree pruning, tree planting, and Town beautification. Operate pickup trucks, zero-turn mowers, push mowers, weed trimmers, and other green space  equipment as required. 
  • Exercise good judgment and caution when operating equipment near other workers, pedestrians,  and vehicles to ensure safety. 
  • Tow trailers, and operate line painters, operate roller packers and assisting with pothole and crack  filling. 
  • Perform flagging duties as necessary (training provided). 
  • Support and assist in Town programs and events, including setup and dismantling of barricades  and other equipment. 
  • Complete designated training and adhere to Occupational Health and Safety Legislation. Work overtime on some weekends and for Town events as required. * 
  • Assist with playground maintenance, including fixing picnic tables and emptying garbage cans. Remove trees and brush from trails and green spaces. 
  • Level and chalk ball diamonds and sports fields.

  • Conduct regular vehicle inspections. 
  • Perform minor maintenance on equipment, including fueling, oiling, greasing, and washing  vehicles. 
  • Assist in preparation for special events, including fabricating, constructing, and painting signs and  barricades. 
  • Lift weights up to approximately 20 kg. 
  • Actively participate in morning tailgates, hazard assessments and follow safety procedures to  ensure the safety of oneself and others. 
  • Actively participate in near-miss and hazard identification reporting. 
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of OHS Legislation and relevant safety policies. Comply with reporting requirements. 
  • Submit all paperwork in a timely, organized, and legible manner. 
  • Perform other related duties as required. 
  • Must be a team player. 

This position is from May 2025 to August 2025 (Start and end dates will be finalized closer too as  determined by environmental factors, and budgetary constraints)

Types of Physical Exertion: 

Working outside in in varying weather conditions  including dust and heat.  

Lifting weights exceeding 10 kg and up to an  approximate maximum of 20 kg. 

Walking on uneven surfaces, using a ladder. Stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
