Vermilion RCMP lay 54 charges in January

During the month of January 2025, Vermilion RCMP responded to 273 calls for service.  

Vermilion RCMP laid 54 charges in January, including 19 criminal code, 31 provincial offences, and four drug related. 

Of these:

  • 11 were related to property crimes,
  • 4 were related to weapons offences,
  • 2 were related to offences against animals,
  • 1 was related to driving offences.
  • 1 of the criminal charges were related to failing to comply with conditions/court 

Further, four people were issued notice of administrative penalties for driving while impaired. 

A total of 43 property crimes were part of the 273 calls for service.

The majority, 116, were related to vehicle and traffic complaints.

  •  14 were related to persons crimes,
  • 24 were traffic collisions,
  • 3 were suspicious persons or vehicles.

Of the property crime, 12 were mischiefs (damage to property or obstructing lawful enjoyment), 12 were thefts, six were frauds, five were break and enters, and three were thefts of vehicles.

In addition, 11 calls were related to spousal abuse, and five were related to mental health concerns.
