Saskatoon Youth Arrested After Series of Armed Robberies in Bonnyville & Lloydminster

A series of violent robberies in Bonnyville and Lloydminster has led to the arrest of a 17-year-old male from Saskatoon, SK. The suspect, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was taken into custody in St. Paul, AB, on February 4, 2025, without incident.

The first robbery occurred on January 29, 2025, at approximately 3:28 p.m., when Bonnyville RCMP responded to a report of a robbery near 43 Street. The victim had arranged to sell an item to the suspect, but upon meeting, the suspect sprayed them with a substance believed to be pepper spray before stealing the item and fleeing the scene.

Days later, on February 2, 2025, at approximately 5:32 p.m., Lloydminster RCMP responded to a similar robbery near 80 Avenue. In this case, the victim was attempting to sell property to the suspect when they were sprayed with a substance believed to be pepper spray and robbed.

Shortly after, at 6:43 p.m., Lloydminster RCMP responded to a second robbery near 48 Street. This time, the victim was attempting to purchase an item from the suspect when they were sprayed with pepper spray and robbed.

 

Following an investigation, police located and arrested the suspect in St. Paul on February 4. The youth has been charged with multiple offences in connection to the Bonnyville incident, including:

  • Robbery (x2)
  • Assault
  • Theft over $5,000

 

In connection to the Lloydminster incidents, the youth has also been charged with:

  • Fail to comply with release order (x5)
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (x2)
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm (x2)
  • Possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized
  • Possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
  • Robbery to steal a firearm
  • Possession of a break-in instrument
  • Robbery (x2)

 

The youth was remanded into custody following a hearing before a Justice of the Peace and is scheduled to appear in court on February 11, 2025, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Lloydminster.
