Drug trafficking charges laid by Vermilion RCMP
A suspected drug trafficker has been charged by Vermilion RCMP.
Police went to a rural area near Township Road 524 and Range Road 82, northwest of Vermilion, on Jan. 17 after being requested to conduct a wellbeing check.
Upon arrival, RCMP responded to the location and through the course of the investigation, seized approximately three grams of suspected psilocybin, over 27 grams of suspected methamphetamine, over four grams of fentanyl, almost two grams of suspected cocaine, and a large quantity of suspected gabapentin (drug used to treat nerve pain).
There was also an “array” of bear spray seized, police said.
Francis Meesto, 35, a resident of Lloydminster, was charged with: possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose (x2), possession of controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and endangering an animal.
She was released with a court date of March 17, 2025, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Vermilion.
RCMP had also located a very young puppy which appeared in distress and was transported to receive care.
The Vermilion RCMP is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the location of, or sightings of crimes in the area.
