Kidsport Bonnyville sees multi-year highs in funding 98 kids in 2024
Brad Ollen, chair of Kidsport Bonnyville, left, receives a cheque from Thomas Rosenberger, Lloyd Sadd Demers Insurance, right, from their annual golf tournament.
Kidsport Bonnyville was able to fund more kids in 2024 with more financial support than in the past several years.
A total of 98 kids were supported with $500 amounts to help parents with the financial burden of sport and recreation registration fees this year.
That amounted to a total of $32,309 in funding for local kids up to 18-years-old.
This is the highest number of recipients and funding total since 2017, when Kidsport removed the endorser form.
“This was a very successful year for Kidsport Bonnyville,” said chair Brad Ollen.
“We wouldn’t be able to do this without the generous support of how our local business community, who have decided to choose our cause for fundraisers. It shows how much our community cares about keeping our youth active and engaged, while developing tomorrow’s leaders.”
Parents are able to access the grant application through the Kidsport website here. Remember that the Oil Country Hockey Assist Program, put together by Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation, is especially geared towards growing minor hockey fees.
The local Bonnyville board is made up entirely of volunteers.
Some of the big events in 2024 the Kidsport Bonnyville team helped out at was the first annual Thermal Cup, seeing Imperial Oil, Canadian Natural Resources, Strathcona Resources, and Cenovus employees duke it out for hockey bragging rights.
The Kidsport crew also were the grateful beneficiaries of community golf tournaments like the Bonnyville Oilmen’s Society and 3rd Annual KidSport Bonnyville Golf Tourney hosted by Lloyd Sadd Insurance Brokers.
