Arnold’s request for consult with Crown granted; next date March 20
The court proceedings regarding the former Bonnyville teacher facing charges related to sexual conduct with minors have been adjourned to March 20.
Janelle Arnold’s matters in Wainwright resumed on Thursday.
While Lakeland Connect does not know the specifics of what transpired, an adjournment was requested by an agent on Arnold’s behalf to consult with the Crown.
This was granted.
The date of March 20 is slated for election and plea.
Arnold was originally charged on Sept. 6 by Bonnyville RCMP with sexual assault and sexual interference, after allegedly assaulting a youth — not a student of Duclos School — and then paying them money to keep quiet.
Upon her release, Arnold was arrested and charged in Wainwright on Oct. 26 with invitation to sexual touching, child luring, and failing to comply with a release order. She was remanded afterwards.
It is alleged she messaged a youth to try and get the youth and his friends to go to her hotel room.
During this span of six weeks, the alleged contact with youth in New Zealand occurred, leading to another charge of failing to comply with a release order.
