Alicia Krawchuk officially named Regional Chief of Emergency Services: BRFA
The Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority (BRFA) announced on Thursday the appointment of Alicia Krawchuk as Regional Chief of Emergency Services, effective immediately.
Krawchuk will fill the role formerly known as Regional Fire Chief, and essentially drops the interim tag of a position she’s been doing since Dan Heney left the BRFA last summer.
“Alicia’s many years of leadership in multiple Divisions of the BRFA and experience as Interim Regional Fire Chief, coupled with her education and experience make her well prepared to take on this role,” said CAO Darren Sandbeck in a press release.
“Alicia is a strong leader that knows the organization, its people and the region exceptionally well. I look forward to the future with Alicia leading the operational side of BRFA.
“The change from the traditional Regional Fire Chief title to that of Regional Chief of Emergency Services is intentional to reflect the multiple emergency services divisions that the BRFA operates, including Fire, EMS and Emergency Communications,” explained Sandbeck.
To further enhance support to our Regional Fire Stations and valued volunteers, the BRFA will also be recruiting a Regional Deputy Fire Chief early in 2025.
“This position will increase leadership, support and response capacity in our Fire Division. We expect to have a successful candidate in place by April 1, 2025,” Sandbeck said.
