Vermilion RCMP lay 41 charges in December 2024

During the month of December 2024, Vermilion RCMP responded to 218 calls for service, laying a total of 41 charges. 

Of those calls for service, the most, 53, were related to traffic/vehicle complaints.

A total of 48 calls were related to property crimes, 19 were related to persons crimes, 35 were traffic collisions, and four were suspicious persons or vehicles.

Property crimes:

  • 15 mischiefs (damage to property or obstructing lawful enjoyment),
  • 4 break and enters,
  • 15 were thefts,
  • 7 frauds, 
  • 7 thefts of vehicles

Ten calls were related to spousal abuse, and four were related to mental health concerns.

During this period, Vermilion RCMP laid 41 charges, including 32 criminal code, and 9 provincial offences. 

Fifteen of the criminal charges were related to property crimes, and 12 were related to persons crimes. Three were related to failing to comply with conditions/court. 

Further, two individuals were issued notice of administrative penalties for driving while impaired.

In the 2024 calendar year, Vermilion RCMP responded to 3188 calls for service and laid 708 charges, including 336 criminal code charges.
