Deanna Dawn Burry (King), born on March 7, 1971, in Brookfield, Newfoundland, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones in Edmonton, Alberta at the Royal Alexandra Hospital on January 2, 2025. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of everyone she met. Deanna showed great strength and bravery during her courageous battle with cancer. She was always so positive when she spoke about her diagnosis; she fought hard until the end of her battle.

Deanna always had a deep love for animals of all kinds. Her compassion extended beyond her family; she had an innate ability to connect with creatures great and small. Her gentle spirit was reflected throughout her life as she dedicated herself to caring for others—whether it be through her work as a cook or simply offering a listening ear to those who needed it most. She was an avid traveler; she made countless memories exploring new places.

Deanna’s greatest pride came from being a mother to her three children: Bradley (Katherine), Robyn (Jonathan), and Hannah (Lucas). The bond they shared was unbreakable; Deanna loved them fiercely and devoted herself wholeheartedly to their happiness. As a grandmother to Xavier, Jackson, Aaron, Nate, and Jacey—her joy knew no bounds. Each grandchild held a special place in her heart that radiated pure love.

She is survived by her brothers Roy King (Sherry), Jack (Peggy), Dean; fiancé Tracy; Father of children Brian Burry; along with many nieces and nephews, and cherished friends who became like family over the years. Deanna’s legacy will live on through the countless memories created together—the laughter shared during family gatherings filled with stories about their adventures growing up—and through the values of kindness and compassion that she instilled within each member of her family.

Predeceased by her loving parents Florence King (Hann) and Jack King as well as brother Terry King—a piece of Deanna now rests with them—but their spirits continue to guide us all.

In every moment spent with Deanna—from sharing meals prepared with love at home to enjoying quiet afternoons filled with conversations—it was clear how deeply she cared for those around her. Her contagious smile could light up any room while reminding us all just how precious life truly is.

As we gather our hearts together during this difficult time—we celebrate not only what has been lost but also everything that made Deanna so extraordinary: A kind-hearted woman who loved hard without reservation.

Come and Go Celebration of Deanna’s Life, Thursday, January 9, 2025, Memento Funeral Chapel, Cold Lake, Alberta from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
