It was Pack the Police Car weekend for local RCMP detachments who have garnered thousands of pounds of food for local food banks.
Bonnyville, Cold Lake, and St. Paul RCMP detachments were parked at supermarkets on Friday and Saturday and provided the space for those to donate.
In Bonnyville, S/Sgt. Sarah Parke reports they collected 2425lbs of non perishable food, toiletry items, and over a thousand dollars in grocery gift cards to donate to our local food banks.
“This community never ceases to amaze me with its generosity,” said Parke.
St. Paul RCMP gathered a total of $2876 worth of donations, with another 3009.31lbs of food equaling about $7,780.50.
The Cold Lake RCMP were also very successful.
“As always, members of our community turned out in full force and helped us to raise $2100 in cash donations and over 1367lbs of food,” said Sgt. Ryan Howrish.
